Grand Re-Opening at SDSG & Art in Bloom in the Village

Hello All,

Here's a headsup to more fun and excitement during ART IN BLOOM in the Spanish Village Art Center.  Our famous San Diego Sculptors Guild is kicking off their Celebration Party next Saturday, July 7, 2012 with the Grand Gallery Re-Opening of SDSG in Studio 36.  Party runs from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Grab all the details from the info above, and get your art appreciation on.

There's never a dull moment at SDSG.  They are always creating, and always, but always interested in promoting outreach in the community for awareness of public art.  Sergey Gornushkin, President of SDSG is always on hand to greet you, and to make you welcome, as are all of the members and artists of SDSG.

Looks like a great time at the San Diego Sculptors Guild's Gallery Grand Re-Opening, being held in conjunction with "Art In Bloom".  So be there, when the party gets started...or, be square!  I think the first option wins hands down, don't you?

"Celebrate, celebrate.  Dance to the music."

Open House & Art in Bloom at Spanish Village Art Center

Hello All,

"It's that time again.  You are all invited to the Annual Open House and "Art in Bloom" held throughout the Spanish Village Art Center courtyard.  We're located at 1770 Village Place, San Diego, California in beautiful Balboa Park, between the Natural History Museum and the San Diego Zoo.

You won't want to miss this.  It's our biggest event of the summer, featuring our famous silent art auction, floral arrangements from local florists and clubs, and that ever present musical entertainment by Tin Man's Heart and Elliott on the courtyard patio.

Take the "Smell the Roses" Walking Tour through our 37 art studios, and just enjoy the day.

See you all there!!!

San Diego Potters' Guild Spring Sale - "It's On"!!!

Hello All,

It's on right now...so, "Run, Don't Walk" to Spanish Village Art Center, located at 1770 Village Place in Balboa Park for this spectacular biannual event.  The San Diego Potters' Guild Spring Sale is running through today, June 10, 2012 on the patio.  As usual, it includes some of the best clay and porcelain art pieces you will ever see.  You can't miss it!

I ran by yesterday, and immediately gravitated to my friend, Nan Coffin's setup.  She has the most amazing sense of coloring and the "less is more" touch that I love in pottery.  I was looking for egg cups for my morning "soft cooked" eggs, and I just fell in love with her new color schemes. So pristene and bright they are, in her combinations of white, seafoam green and gold.  Just take a look at these lovelies.

As you know, there are many talented ceramists with wonderful pieces in this show each time.  We all have our favorites, of course.  Julie Brown and Rick Hernandez are always at the top of my list, but this year, Nan won hands down for my tastes.  Now if I can just get her to make those egg cups in this season's colors.  Oh well, time will tell.  But, for now, I'll settle for drooling over this lidded vessel.

Got to run now.  I want to get down there before the sale ends.  I'll be back with the nitty gritty on how the show went a bit later.  See you all there!

Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow...and, Meow!

Well, did you think this kitty was kidding?  That's 6, "count 'em"...6 meows for  "Catnip Connection 6", opening soon in Gallery 21 at Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park.  We all love cats...and, those of you who don't (what's the matter with you?) will still be as happy as a "kitty who stole the cream" with the upcoming exhibition.

Catnip Connection 6 will be showing in Gallery 21 located in Spanish Village Art Center at 1770 Village Place, San Diego, California, 6/20-7/2/12 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. daily.  For those artists who love depicting cats in their artwork, submissions are due on 6/20/12 at the gallery between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

As usual, a portion of the sales from the exhibition will be donated to the Feral Cat Coalition, an organization offering spay/neuter clinics for stray cats in San Diego County.

So, we will see you there...all of you "Cat Lovers", and all of you who "Love to laugh at cats".  I promise that Catnip Connection 6 won't disappoint you, whichever side you stand on.  I'm sure you'll be purring when you leave the gallery, just like the "cat who caught the canary".  Don't believe me?  Just ask a cat!

MEOW, MEOW, MEOW, MEOW, MEOW...and MEOW!!!!!!

Yumi Climenson...following the "Path of Light"

Hello All,

Once again, Gallery 21 welcomes Yumi Climenson back for her annual exhibit, "Path of Light". We have traveled many paths with Yumi over the past years, and this year the "path" is, as always, illuminated by the "Light" inherent within Yumi, and in us all. I believe that is how Yumi would express it.

"Path of Light" promises to be a unique experience. How can it not with Yumi as our guide, or perhaps I should say, "...as Yumi reveals the vista along the way". Knowing her as I do, Yumi does not lead or force us to follow a path of her choosing. Rather, she invites us all to explore the path of illumination as a means of evolving...a journey (if you would) of enlightenment.

You see, and I haven't even seen the show yet. I suppose I am still basking in the "light" of her past exhibitions, all dealing with "light" in some form. So, Gallery 21 and Yumi Climenson invite you all to come and experience "Path of Light". Perhaps, we will leave the show with a modicum of that aura exuded by Yumi, and find our feet once more upon the path...

Yumi will be waiting to welcome you on the "Path of Light".
